Cookie Policy

Cookies and browser storage let a site keep small amounts of information on your device. This page lists what JustAJob uses, the information involved, how long it remains, and the controls available to you.

1. Cookies set by JustAJob

Cookies are sent with requests to our site. The session cookie is essential; the others remember features you chose.

  • justajob_session — strictly necessary. Authenticates your signed-in session. Its value is unavailable to page scripts (httpOnly). Retention: Up to 7 days without activity and 30 days overall.
  • justajob_region — functional. Remembers a previously selected region when hosting-provider location data is unavailable. Retention: Up to 1 year.
  • justajob_last_search — functional. Remembers your latest location and keyword search so the jobs page can be pre-filled. Retention: 30 days.
  • jaj_match_cv — functional. Remembers the active saved CV in CV Tools and which CV to use for server-side job-match scoring. It stores identifiers, not CV text. Retention: 90 days, or until sign-out/account change.

2. Longer-lived on-device preferences

Local storage stays in this browser until you clear it. We use it only for interface choices and dismissed messages, not CV or LinkedIn content.

  • jaj-mode, jaj-accent — functional. Remembers your light/dark mode and accent-colour choices on this device. Retention: Until you clear site data.
  • jaj-jobs-filters-open, jaj-admin-trend-mode — functional. Remembers whether job filters are open and, for administrators, the preferred chart style. Retention: Until you clear site data.
  • jaj-promo-banner-dismissed, jaj-dashboard-upsell-dismissed, jaj-cv-upsell-dismissed, jaj-interview-upsell-dismissed, jaj-linkedin-upsell-dismissed, jaj-profile-upsell-dismissed — functional. Remembers promotional or upgrade messages you dismissed so they stay out of the way. Retention: Until you clear site data.

3. Private, short-lived tab storage

Session storage is limited to one browser tab. Private entries are tied to the signed-in account, become unreadable after eight hours, and are removed by a regular sweep. They are also cleared when this tab observes an account change or sign-out, or when it closes.

  • jaj:private:<account>/ai-result/... — functional. Temporarily caches AI CV results to avoid spending another credit on identical inputs. Retention: Becomes unavailable after 8 hours and is removed shortly afterwards, or when the tab closes.
  • jaj:private:<account>/linkedin-draft/... — functional. Temporarily restores the LinkedIn text, target role, job description and result used in this tab. Retention: Becomes unavailable after 8 hours and is removed shortly afterwards, or when the tab closes.
  • jaj:private:<account>/interview-timer/... — functional. Temporarily restores the timer for an interview question after a refresh or short break. Retention: Becomes unavailable after 8 hours and is removed shortly afterwards, or when the tab closes.
  • jaj:private-owner — strictly necessary. Separates private tab data when the signed-in account changes. It contains only an opaque account-scope value, not the internal account id. Retention: Until the current browser tab closes.

4. Cloudflare analytics and security

If enabled for this deployment, Cloudflare Web Analytics measures visits and page performance without placing analytics cookies or using browser storage. Information is still sent to Cloudflare to provide that service. We do not use advertising cookies, social-media pixels or cross-site advertising trackers.

Cloudflare Turnstile may run on sign-up, password-recovery and enquiry forms to protect them from automated abuse. Its default widget returns a short-lived verification token. Depending on Cloudflare security settings, Cloudflare may also set security or clearance cookies such as cf_clearance. Those cookies are controlled by Cloudflare and last for the security period configured for the site.

5. Your controls

The button below clears the functional cookies, local storage and private tab storage listed above. It deliberately leaves the httpOnly sign-in cookie alone, so it does not sign you out, and it does not delete anything stored in your account on our servers.

You can also block or clear all site data in your browser settings. Clearing the session cookie signs you out; blocking it prevents sign-in. Most browsers provide a “clear site data” control for justajob.net.
